The month of June kicks off our summer camp season, and what a kick it is! We are once again welcoming our new Young Life friends with four weeks of  their "Wyldlife" camps and ending the month by welcoming back our old friends from the Michigan Youth for Christ groups - Colorado Challenge (who have been coming here for over 30 years!). It's 7 days a week of go, go, go and we wouldn't want it any other way. The weather has been gorgeous and our summer staff of 20 is one of the best yet. God has blessed us and our rental groups in so many ways this year and we are seeing a bountiful harvest for the Kingdom in 2010. Praise Him, praise Him!!!

As for what's been happening around here over the past month, the pool area renovation is  now complete. A new, slightly raised wooden deck has been installed along both sides of the pool where the sod used to be. On the east side of the deck (facing Kinser) is a short retaining wall and then from there to the fence has been filled in with large river rock. A wood walkway brings bathers in from outside the gate onto the deck.

The leveling of the recreation field east of the Chapel has been completed as well. The grade elevation drop off from the back edge to the front edge was 11 feet, so the back side was cut away to provide fill for the front. The field itself is fine, graded gravel and is a real hit for field games, soccer, baseball and "crud wars".

We received the final, signed and approved National Forest Service “Guiding and Outfitting” permit to do our trail rides in the Pike National Forest around us. This has opened up some really nice new horseback trails for us with some amazing views.

This is also our first year of offering our own, full time "camp nurse", Deb Kind, who is doing a great job. She is a real blessing and has been a tremendous help to Zak in setting up the camp nurse program for this year.

Our work on finishing the final phase of the Clark Lodge project has slowed significantly due to summer camp, so it doesn't look like we'll make our original goal of a ribbon cutting ceremony for the 2010 Yearly Meeting in August, but we are looking forward to cranking back up in a couple of months and finishing that project once and for all!

Have a great summer and thank you for all your prayers and support!
