Dave Milton

"And whatever you do, do it heartily, as for the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance." Colossians 3:23-24

Dave has always had a knack for working with his hands and head and turning a mess into something of value, starting with a job in his dad's auto repair business as a young teenager and then in the construction trades during high school and college working for Mosley and Son Construction in Stuart, Florida. During these years, Dave gained invaluable hands-on experience in the building trades while earning his B.S. (with honors) in Building Construction from the University of Florida.

After graduation, he went to work for the R.K. Davis Construction Company in Ft. Pierce, Florida as a Project Manager and spent the next 10 years excelling in this role until he started his own company. After receiving his General Contractor's license, Dave rolled up his sleeves, went to work and built Milton Construction Company, a commercial and residential construction business. Along the way, Dave took on a partner and changed the name to Milton-Hayes Construction Company.

Dave and his wife, Lisa, were married shortly after Dave graduated from UF. Lisa brought two daughters into the marriage (Krista and Deanna) and then she and Dave had two boys (Matthew and Andrew). The Milton family stayed very busy with Little League, skateboarding, motorcycles, surfing, home schooling and church. Dave was an elder at his church (Calvary Chapel Vero Beach) and sat on the board of the Indian River Habitat for Humanity (U.S. affiliate of the Year in 2006) and was Chairman of the Indian River County chapter of the Treasure Coast Builder's Association as well as Regional Director of the Christian Surfers ministry. He was even an active member of the Christian Motorcycle Association for a number of years. As a director of the Christian Surfers, Dave was involved in mission's trips to Haiti and Puerto Rico.

Dave has always enjoyed an adventuresome and active lifestyle and for most of his life has enjoyed on and off road motorcycles, sky diving, scuba diving, fishing, skateboarding, surfing and even built a really nice 1969 Plymouth Barracuda street car.

But the Lord was putting it on he and Lisa's hearts that there was something else for them. For a number of years, Dave and Lisa had begun to feel that they as a family were being called into full time ministry, but just didn't know what that looked like. And then, in 2008, the Lord began opening doors one after the other which eventually led to Dave closing down his business in Florida, packing up his family and belongings and moving to Quaker Ridge Camp to assume the Facilities Director role here.

With his humble, servant's heart, his love for the Lord, his natural leadership skills and his background in construction and business management, Dave is an invaluable asset to the ministry here.
